GNS3 Announcement: GNS3 v0.6 Officially Released!
Written by LBSources from http://www.gns3-labs.com on December 19th, 2008 | 14 CommentsThe long anticipated GNS3 v0.6 has been officially released. This version is not so different then the unofficial 0.6 I released some time ago. Minor differences are the bug corrected from them to today. Unfortunately they did not make it to the virtual pc simulation - but Jeremy speculates something about being able to do it in Dynamips.
I would guess that unless you are compiling sources in Linux, you will have to wait for mirrors to be updated.
1 nice improvement which should eliminate a lot of problems is the “New Project” prompt that pops-up in front of you the moment you open the program. It gives you the option to create a new project with some important options or open a project. This is an important feature and should be used anytime you begin working on a lab so that you don’t lose any configurations.
Below is a changelog - sort of ..
* Users can change the workspace size.
* Possibility to draw rectangles and ellipses.
* Feature to automatically create labels of interface names.
* Multi-links drawing (no overlaps).
* Snapshot feature.
* Interface names are included in the Generic Ethernet NIO list on Windows.
* New export to images (JPEG, PNG …) that allows to export all the workspace (and not only what you see).
* “Expand all” and “collapse all” features for the topology summary panel (contribution by beduev).
* Annotations, rectangles and ellipses can be rotated.
* On Windows, users can load an alternative gns3.ini by setting a path on command line, example: gns3.exe –configdir <path_to_dir_containing_gns3.ini>
Also, a lot of bugs from the previous version have been corrected. Concerning the virtual PC simulation, unfortunately this has not been included in this release but I’ve found a clean way to implement this directly in Dynamips, so be patient

Hey Baim .. what do you mean? You cant run as many labs with 0.6 as you were able to with 0.5? I would try generating new idlepc to see if that helps.

@Vaibhav You can configure only the routers available in GNS3. Otherwise you’re better off saving up some cash to get some real gear..
